3 Reason why you should train at Eleven Elevation Jiu Jitsu Academy (+6 benefits included)

Jiu Jitsu is quickly becoming one of the most popular sports in the United States. Thus, it can be difficult choosing a quality gym that will help you and your family meet their personal goals. Eleven Elevation offers a professional, clean, and safe environment for its students to learn and grow. Find out what makes Eleven Elevation so special and the additional benefits you will receive below.

Professional

Eleven Elevation Jiu Jitsu Academy is dedicated to creating and maintaining a professional environment for children and adult students. This starts with our facility, staff, and the way in which we conduct our business. Our facility is state of the art and offers the best grappling mats and protection available for our students. There are two black belt instructors at Eleven Elevation. Our head instructor is also a sports first aid and CPR instructor. Our instructors are also live fingerprint scanned and regularly attend instructor and leadership seminars. Our classes start on time and are run by the clock so there is no guesswork as to what is happening. Our tuition is run through our website and each customer is in charge of their own account. Each student can cancel at any time, eliminating the contacts that made martial arts unattractive in the past. We pride ourselves in offering a professional service.

Safe

In November of 2022, we will complete 5 successful years of teaching Jiu Jitsu to the village of Wrightwood and the surrounding areas. Keeping students safe is our biggest accomplishment. Jiu Jitsu is considered a gentle martial art because it has no kicking or punching techniques. However, wrestling and takedowns can cause injuries if you are practicing without the proper equipment. Eleven Elevation spared no expense for your safety. We have the best mats on the planet, made by FUJI, which are 1 inch and a half thick. All our walls and posts are also padded by FUJI. To practice overhead throws we also have a large crash pad made by FUJI. Our instructors also play a large role in keeping the students safe. Introducing proper training for each individual’s capabilities is our strong suit. We recognize that each individual is on their own path and is allowed to grow at a safe pace. Our goal is to get you to black belt healthy and strong!

Clean

Have you ever visited a gym that smelled like sweaty socks and body odor? We wanted to break that stigma of smelly meat head gyms and create a clean space where moms can allow their infants to roll on the ground as their siblings do class. Our space is always kept clean and we keep hygiene standards for our students. Hygiene rules are posted throughout the gym to educate our students about their role in keeping a clean space. Each night our mats are swept, vacuumed, sprayed with a special solution, and then scrubbed clean. Students are never allowed to train with a dirty or smelly uniform! We also employe our teenager students to deep clean the gym once a week to ensure all aspects of our gym get a scrubbing. We take hygiene and cleanliness serious because it directly impacts our students health. You are priority at Eleven Elevation and it shows!

Hold on, there is more! Let’s discuss some benefits also…

Confidence

Everyone has struggled with confidence to some degree. Jiu Jitsu forces each practitioner to employ their confidence regularly to perform techniques in live sparring. In time, with small goals and hard work, the practitioner starts to believe deeper in their abilities. Eventually, this confidence begins to leak out into all aspects of the individual’s life. Our instructors are consistently looking to bring more self-confidence out of our students in creative and constructive ways. We believe pressure creates diamonds, and Jiu Jitsu’s natural pressure develops gem quality character!

Self-discipline

As a child or adult, we can all use more self-discipline in our character. Motivation can be non-existence or fleeting at times and that is what makes self-discipline so attractive. Discipline comes from some outside authoritative force but self-discipline comes from inside the self and drives us to complete goals and keep our commitments. To be successful at Jiu Jitsu you will need to develop self-discipline, but most schools do not know how to create and foster this character trait within their students. Through lessons that convey ownership, accountability, goal setting, objective writing, and sports phycology our students not only utilize self-discipline in their Jiu Jitsu but within every aspect of their lives.

Focus

At our school, we regularly help children and adults foster higher levels of focus. Have you ever watched your child struggle to focus on a task or school work? Have you, as an adult struggled to start a new project or sit down and do your taxes? Jiu Jitsu helps the student find constructive ways of cutting through the resistance that blocks our focus and drive. In one second a Jiu Jitsu match can change because of our lack of focus and connection to our partner. As your skills grow in Jiu Jitsu, so does your ability to control your focus. Soon, you will have the ability to apply your focus to tasks that are repetitive, boring, or long-term, not because you are motivated or excited, but because you are the authority that drives your focus, not random circumstances or tasks. Once this character trait becomes seasoned, the individual finds that they are accomplishing small and large goals more consistently inside and outside Jiu Jitsu.

Preparedness and Health

We like to pride ourselves in our cardio at Eleven Elevation. This is because we have seen world-class black belts be tapped by less experienced practitioners simply because of their lack of cardio. In a situation where you need to save your own life, or somebodies close to you, everything will be contingent on your level of cardio and your ability to be calm and effective within chaos. Nothing prepares you more for these moments than Jiu Jitsu. However, most schools run from the hard work that cardio demands. We apologize in advance that our school will push you and hold you accountable for your level of cardio. This cardio preparedness directly relates to your overall health. Cardio is the secret medicine to improving cardiovascular health, lowering blood pressure, regulating blood sugar, reducing asthma symptoms, reducing chronic pain, aiding in better sleep, regulating weight, strengthening our immune systems, improving brain power, boosting moods and so much more.

Community

We can’t always pick our family, but we can pick our community. Jiu Jitsu offers individual students a large and supportive community to grow into. Children and adult students share the mats with other students who are working towards the same objectives and goals. This healthy socialization amongst your peers who have shared priorities will aid in keeping you committed. Positive mentorship is priceless for individuals who lacked this structure in their family life. Mentorship comes from instructors, but also from their peers who are sharing the journey alongside your personal development. Our Jiu Jitsu community is extremely strong. We regularly have NERF WARS, BBQs, Belt Ceremonies, Chess Tournaments, Car Washes, Seminars, Free Self Defense Classes, and more events to foster the most supportive community possible.

Humility and Patience

Jiu Jitsu benefits can come on quickly or simmer slowly over time before they are realized. However, almost immediately each student learns about humility. It doesn’t matter that you are naturally tall, strong, or athletic… Jiu Jitsu will humble all. Many larger practitioners are quickly submitted by smaller and more experienced students forcing the practitioner to check their ego. Soon, the practitioner realizes that it will not be their strength or athleticism that makes them good at Jiu Jitsu but their dedication to learning and mastering the principles and techniques. This humility penetrates into other aspects of their life and improves personal and professional relationships. As Jiu Jitsu teaches us humility it also reveals that learning this martial art will take time and dedication. There are no shortcuts to mastering Jiu Jitsu quickly, thus the practitioner learns patience. To get good at Jiu Jitsu the practitioner will need to show up consistently and surrender to being new at something that will take 8-10 years to master. Once this skill is understood the practitioner is not afraid to start new hobbies or opportunities that will take time to master. Some people never start a project or goal because of the time it will take to earn the skill necessary. Not our students! Humility and patience empower individuals to start now, not wait and enjoy the process.
